Okay thread I am in need of some virus help. PLEASE !
My friend opened up a program attached to an e-mail . The program was called navidad.exe. After execution her computer will no longer execute ANY executable ie sysedit, solitare anything. When I doubleclick on any of her icons (or links through start menu) it informs me that it cannot find winsvrc.exe and does not proceed any farther. Using 'ext' from the win recovery disk I have searched all cabs and have done a websearch for this file. Through dos I have access to her system files (win.ini etc). I can boot windows in safe mode however upon any attempt to run a program the above error message occurs. The error message also occurs in response to the programs in her startup file. Using windows explorer I am able to view her files etc and delete them without complaint. Any good guesses or bad ones ?

Thanks
Rob
Yes I did talk to her about taking candy from strangers but I'm sure the prospect of a total system wipe is having far more of an effect.
