Whether they have a political bent or not, the whole
world and the whole legal community is watching them.

At some level, their reputations are more important
than Al Gore. They also have obligations to the people
of the state of Florida.

It would be remarkable for them to enter a new judgment
without remanding to Sauls to re-do his opinion.

The best thing they could do would be to simply affirm or
to deny review. If they affirm, however, they should specify that the legal standards applied by Sauls were correct. After all, this is probably not the last election contest in Florida and the court must consider the
global impact of its ruling.
