That's your prediction. Mine is that they do the remarkable, entering into judgment for the plaintiff and ordering an immediate manual recount of Dade ballots. They'll also add 215 to Gore's total because of Palm Beach.

Are Supreme Court judges elected in Florida? They are in MN. There is a nascent discussion here about whether political parties should be able to endorse SS candidates. There is an ethics cannon prohibiting this currently. Also there are extreme limits to what is acceptable in terms of a campaign. The practical effect of these rules is that 100% of incumbents are reelected 100% of the time. As courts continue to act as legislatures, perhaps it is time to start treating them as legislatures and hold them more accountable to voters.
