Many covered call writers forget to calculate the effect of covered calls on equity, and that can be a fatal mistake. Using covered calls, you can actually margin your account up to 90% or higher leverage (in other words, 10% equity or less), so it's important to know what you're doing if you're going to utilize a heavy-margin strategy.
