" As a result of recent large cancellations by customers worldwide"

I guess the Celeron market has saturated...

John:

Looks like $65 million in margins off the bottom line or about $0.10 per share, and that's just scraping the surface...What's more is that INTC's Q1 and Q2 outlook becomes increasingly difficult as AMD loads up the 1 to 1.2 gig space, re-enters the mobile space and enters the server space...Going to be very, very interesting to see how AMD fares in Q4...

By the way, much of this might already be factored into INTC's price...all of it and more is certainly factored into AMD's price!!!

Petz, Re: The company expects interest and other income for the fourth quarter of 2000 to be approximately $675 million.

Interesting. This is nearly $300 million below old guidance of $950 million. No more Micron to sell?

Petz,
re: < Interest and other is expected to be approximately $675 million for the fourth quarter, down from the company's previous expectation of $950 million, due to lower than expected realized gains on equity investments as equity market levels fell during the quarter. >

Expected Investment gains = $675 - $250 = $425M, assuming the interest earned in Q4'00 is same as in the previous quarter.

In response to one of your posts, I commented-

"Wow, $444M unrealized gains left is way lower than I expected. It seems Intel's capital is in more dire situation than I initially thought."

So far, as per my data, Intel had sold only $130M worth of their investment holdings. Unless the market recovers, they may have some difficulty in selling Millions of shares from their portfolio in the next few weeks.

<Depreciation is expected to be approximately $815 million in the fourth quarter, lower than previous expectation of $865 million.>

Shows how easily Intel can manage its eps number by adjusting $50M here, $50M there,...

<As a result of recent large cancellations by customers worldwide, the company now expects revenue for the fourth quarter to be flat, plus or minus a couple of percentage points, ..>

Where is Ashok Kumar? The guy was talking about 10% growth. That apart, it looks like IABG is going to be down about 5% since Q3.

<-- The company expects gross margin percentage for the fourth quarter to be 63 percent, plus or minus a point. In the short term, ..>

Yup. I guess such a thing would be possible if one dedicates the lower binned parts for the dumpster and hides them at a special place in the P&L.

<Interest and other is expected to be approximately $675 million for the fourth quarter, down from the company's previous expectation of $950 million, due to lower than expected realized gains on equity investments as equity market levels fell during the quarter. >

That should bring down 2001 earnings estimates real fast.

So, I guess some analysts will figure that the bottom is in for Intel and it is time to downgrade AMD :-(
