HG - IP connections are among the worst protocols available.
As the cars engines, they are unefficient, but the system has been choosen.

1- as unintuitive as can be, on the client side, the fastest computer will perform better, as it can negiciate the call of packets the fastest. (You receive all the data on internet in chunks between roughly 500 kb and 1200 kb, you must aknowledge integrity or ask for a resend).
2- on the server side: there must be enough bandwith available in order to serve all the users in real-time.
If not, requests are beeing queued and recognizable at sudden data bursts.

For these reasons, some data providers limit your requests to a given amount of symbols.

As OX said before, QCharts is fine for charts: it does not matters to me that my 5 min. charts lags the market for a second or three.

For better (free realtme) e-Mini and Forex quotes, I've installed the Towsend java streamer cme.com

For trading purposes:
the TWS seems fine, RT quotes, bid and ask click'n trade.
Checking eSignal connected brokers esignal.com
and still searching other brokers with a trade station AND RT bid/ask.
