GMs stable at 63%?

niceguy,

Are writeoffs of low grade parts figured into GM calculations? I'm trying to determine how GM's can remain stable when their sweet spot has been stagnant during a period where asps are under tremendous pressure. Yield improvements? Servers and mobiles? Strange.

Their CFO just stated sales down in every segment except flash.

Also, Barret's in a heap of trouble for his comments in Taiwan. I think he (and andy) even sold a bunch of shares recently--not good.

<<...looking down the barrel of AMD's shotgun...>

You have surpassed your usual eloquence. This is precisely the imagery I have been imagining but couldn't articulate as I witness the AMD/INTC saga progressing. To use another image, AMD's lineup makes me feel like it's a game where the second and third strings are about equal to the first, and I would dread like hell the quarters to come if I was playing them.

Niceguy,

If AMD and Intel both have their Q1 CCs on 1/16, I would guess that most of the Analysts skip AMD's CC and participate in Intel's. Just a thought.
