The impeachment hearings lasted all of one autumn. It also was accomplished, not merely tried. Removal, of course, is a separate matter. Even including Starr's investigation into the Monica matter, it took less than a year. You are wrong about most everything else, too....

"impeach a president ultimately over lying about a sexual affair" You forgot to mention that he lied to a judge, not just the American people. And it is HIS fault he was in that position to begin with, even if you think it is ok for a married president to pick up on white house interns.
