Dan, you are saying that FL law does not allow a candidate to ask for a recount in a county where he/she believes the results are suspect?

That's news to me. And if you are right, then why was he allowed to do it? I haven't heard Bush people even complain about that specific thing either.

Again, the only reason Gore had a "territorial advantage" as you call is is because Bush chose not to dispute votes himself where he thought the results were off. If he has, there could not have been a territorial advantage.

You're going to have to explain to me why Gore was allowed to do what he did in those counties if it was illegal, Dan.

For better or worse, Florida law is set up specifically for 'territorial' - individual county - counting.
If that is not the intent, they should change their law(s) prior to another election.

(1) Any candidate for nomination or election, or any elector qualified to vote in the election
related to such candidacy, shall have the right to protest the returns of the election as being
erroneous by filing with the appropriate canvassing board a sworn, written protest.


I wonder how many states are reviewing their laws too.
