Good evening folks!

This Florida election could have been fairer, but I think it's about as fair as it's gonna get. I'm amazed at collective consequences as a result of today's rulings.

First thing that strikes me is that the Republicans get to count and keep respective vote leads in Seminole and Martin county. This is good in that ultimately no voters got shut out. Whether hanky-panky took place with the GOP operatives involved in those matters will always be left for conjecture. Fact is, the votes count and those who sincerely voted got their votes.

The second balanced thing to happen was voters whose votes may not have been counted due to the machine tabulation deficiencies will get to have their votes count too. And since this is statewide it's even in better balance for all parties concerned.

Interestingly, this has become a variation of Gore's sensible original offer to Bush for both candidates to agree to a statewide hand recount.

But Gore's offer couldn't play well since Bush's whole game plan was contingent on moving rapidly in some areas, exceedingly slow in others and sometimes outrightwardly disruptive for intended results. But each of these actions were geared toward not counting any more votes except the ones keeping Bush in the lead.

Meanwhile, we've been treated to a facade of Bush's PR machine staunchly cranked to blame Gore for handcounts which, in effect, only serve to delay the Bush crowning, in essence what it would be, given he didn't win the national popular vote and Florida has always been in doubt.

You see, when someone sits at the presidency of the United States and was not voted there or didn't follow a line of succession, that's someone who wants to be a king or might become dictator-like, certainly an opportunist--but not a president.

Finally, the Florida Supreme Court did the very best it could under the circumstances. It assured as many valid votes as possible get counted given what it had to work with.

Still, it couldn't--or may not--rescue the votes of:

* the poor folk at Palm Beach County who got butterflied silly;

* the military absentee ballot voters;

* the folks wrongly kicked off county voting rolls due to faulty data from Texas which was provided to the secretary of state;

* the minority voters who had all sorts of problems too numerous to even mention;

* and those who didn't vote but now wish they did!
