Re: "How many times are we going to flip the coin? Just until Gore wins one toss?"

That's pretty much the Democrats' game plan now, ain't it?

Re: "Is that what you want?"

No.

From the start I wanted one solid manual recount of every county in Florida. But Bush and the Repubs said no twice to Al Gore's call of a recount of the entire state. Instead, they decided to play Dean Smith four-corners "stall ball," and their game plan might well work.

I now want Bush to win the election ... but only after the Florida General Assembly selects its own electors and sends 'em to D.C. in a yellow school bus. They could all wear matching T-shirts that say:

"I'm going to D.C. to pick a president and all the president's brother bought me was this lousy T-shirt!"

No, I've given up on a Gore presidency, even though the experts tonight on the cable TV talk shows still gave him a 2 in 5 chance of pulling off a successful 4th-quarter rally.

The disenfranchised and common working people in the country needed a good rallying cause, and this one looks like a jim-dandy.
