ed - well, I'm still on the DELL train also - sitting on a siding, back in the club car, wondering when the engine will show up.

The recent statements about servers are encouraging. We'll have to see what meat DELL can put on the service bones but they are moving in the right direction.

I think DELL should stop the hype about cleaning CPQ's clock in the server space, kicking Sun's butt, and so on, which no one takes seriously after 2 years with nothing to show, and instead do a reasoned and accurate explanation of their real business plan, which I believe is to expand their SMB gains into the 4-way space while they build the capability to go higher.

The storage plans are also dependent on a successful building of a better services capability - big IT shops don't buy SANs off the web. Careful investments over the next 12 to 18 months against a public plan to hit certain markets could do a lot to restore some credibility for DELL.

Hi Edamo,

Guess I'm still a bit skeptical of the staying power any rally might have. I thought these comments from the Intel Capos were telling, especially the one concerning laptops...

Regards,
John
