There used to be such a thing. The reality of it was is that it was used to discriminate against black's. Thus ruled unconstitutional.

We will always have to deal with the ignorant and un informed and those who are so blind they will not see.

Yet another reason to keep the Electoral College.

Add one more question to your voting eligibility quiz - what fraction of your income do you pay in taxes; include Federal, State, Local income taxes, sales taxes, real estate taxes, and cost of government regulations.

Re: "It would be nice if they put a provision in that bill which calls for a simple test in order to vote. Who is your congressman, senators, president, VP. If you can't answer correctly, you can't vote."

If memory serves me correct, there used to be a similar "current events" test several-score years ago. I believe only white males that owned land could vote, and it was illegal in slave states to teach African-Americans to read and write. What you're proposing, of course, is an extension of that. Keep up the good work. Don't take that thinking cap off today ... you're on a nice roll!

I heard one proposal to take off the party affiliation on the voting "box". Which would mean you would have to do some homework. I kind-of liked that idea.
