The problems is that Gore's 'finish' line of the FL supreme court ruling on his appeal is now wiped off. I can't imagine one thing now that will make him quit now. Will Bush have the guts for such a street fight? Will the republicans in congress? Now Bush and company are, most likely, going to be fighting this thing with the 'count posted on the bottom of our screen' showing them as losing. Will they have the stomach, the bullsh*t ability, the press etc.. to fight public sentiment. Remember to Joe Doe out there this looks pretty fair to him. Heck their going to count everybody! The demos have the press behind them which in turn controls the 60% of the 'ignorant' populace who basically have their opinions spoon fed to them in 30 second sound bites. They aren't following this as closely as we are. Thus they don't fathom the problems with differing count methodologies, the county by county political trench warfare this just caused (the demos will, most likely, win that), the change of election laws, the absolute bullsh*t Gore and co. have been feeding the masses through a willing press. Sad but true.. to tell you the truth I don't see and end to this except if a) the Supreme court steps in and then you can bet an energized Gore and press will attack them with both barrels or b)Gore loses the recount for the 4th time (I would need to know more about the political make-up of the counties counting and.. more importantly.. the political make-up of each of those counties 3 person canvasing boards or .. c) Gore just wins. Bush will concede before dragging this thing through another month of hell. Unless, that is, the republicans really, really, REALLY get pissed off and this becomes a 'holy war' for them and they don't give a flying fig about public opinion. I was telling my other half while hiking today that I would be quite concerned if I was Gore and I won knowing the right wing militia folks are out there. Just goes to show you either Gore: a) Is absolutely the most selfish/blinded man in this world to drag a country through this mess for purely personnel gain... or .. b) He is the stupidist 'you-know-what' in the world that he can't see the absolute hell-ish mess this is causing in this country and the huge divisions this is causing (aka another OJ mess). No matter how I look at it neither 'a' nor 'b' is an alternative I would ever want for a president. I just wish we really could have another election today. I think the democratic party might be surprised as to the support they have lost from those 'in the middle ground' that vote either way depending upon the person running. p.s. We just lowered 'honor' in America to be whatever your lawyer can grab for you and your PR folks can spin. Can you imagine how this is going to shape elections from here on out in American history?
