Mezz, consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds, and you can't accuse the Bush people of being small minded here. They've been fighting by every means available having anybody look the disputed punch cards for a month now. My favorite bit was the thugs, I mean, Republican Congressional staffers on paid "holiday", invading the Miami-Dade courthouse to make sure the Florida SC's previous deadline passed without damage.

Between Jeb, the Florida Legislature, and the U.S. Congress, the odds are still in W's favor. But after all the preposterous moral posturing of the impeachment saga, this round of whining about "the good of the country" rings even hollower than it would otherwise.

Cheers, Dan.

Hi Mezz,

I was up early, composing my tirade about Bush's request for an emergency stay...

LOL! Somehow, I can see that in my mind's eye.

Interesting article on Bush's three-pronged strategy, and I'm really shaking my head in agreement with the following:

Here, the Bush position is akin to requiring the execution be carried out
before the court hears the case. Bush's lawyers want to use a federal
injunction to inflict irreparable harm, not prevent it.
