Having watched the United States Supreme Court for years, I guess it's fair to say MANY years, it comes as no surprise to me that the decision split 5/4. I have nothing but admiration for Justice Scalia. In fact, I have his autograph on a program book from when he spoke to the Fairfax Bar Association. I haven't asked for an autograph since I was a teenager. I think I'll have it framed and hang it in my office. I agree with the dissent of Justice Wells, the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court - who stated that the decision by the Florida Supreme Court had NO basis in Florida law - and I think he knows Florida law better than I do - it is the Florida Supreme Court whose actions were contrary to the rule of law. He is a lifelong Democrat, and his demeanor during the first appeal demonstrated that he had no love of George W. Bush.
