Agreed. However, any system of government can be manipulated by the participants to the limit. Both of these guys are doing that right now. My point is that Gore started the manipulation by asking for a hand count when he knows that the standard "Clear discernable intent of the voter" is idiotic and shouldn't be a part of any law. What the hell does that really mean ? It is subjective and can be manipulated at will. Compound that with giving too much power to the canvassing boards, one can come up with any result one wants in a close election via hand counts. That was Gore's attempt under the guise of count every vote. Anybody can count. Can they count it correctly ? That is the central question. Once this line of attack was explored by Gore, the only avenue left for Bush to stop this was the courts, whichever one that listened.
