Hello Mike,

I wonder how Elmat feels when each time there is a calamity at a DSL outfit he gets a message that says,

"this one's for you!"

I've already sent him two such messages, myself, if I'm not mistaken.

re: the greater issue of smaller competitors falling by the roadside [heck, we may as well call it like it is, road kill], while the incumbents continue to post healthy balance sheets, I think that we're going to see some backlash at some point, against the backdrop of the original intentions and mandates of the Comm Act of 96. Just some thoughts.

I plan to reply to other posts here later in the day or tomorrow.

Hi Mike,

I just read the NWFusion article you referenced.

Two quotes struck me as intriguing:

"Too many companies came into the market with the same idea," he says. "They were worried about starting a buildout quickly and worrying about profit long-term."
This is the fiber optic component sector, to a tee. :)

Another key may be offering value-added services to make up for the falling DSL transport prices, he says.
Emulating the bad idea of an ATHM......

Best, Ray
