Ken, Boies and company are not acquainted with truth. By most reporters finally tally (from off the record observers from both sides... since their was a semi-gag order that Boies/Co violated) Bush had netted approx 42 in the statewide recount (many had not even started)... The 58 plus for Gore was a partial/incorrect/flatoutlie/whoknows count...

Time to go for now...later,

DII

Kenneth, the cloud of illegitimacy started as soon as the hand counts began. Let me explain.

For the last several weeks, we have been arguing over voters' ballots that are unclear in their intent. "Dimpled chads, hanging chads" etc

Know this, the only valid standard is to have the chad punched completely out of the ballot. Machine error or not, it was made clear (with signs throughout the polling places)that it is the responsibility of the voter to insure that his/her ballot clearly indicates a choice. The signs in the polling places told voters to make sure no "hanging chads" or failed punches were on their ballots when they submitted them, and if they had a problem, they could ask for assistance or get a new ballot.

Any more liberal standard to this at best invites tampering and corruption and at worst denies a voter their right to not pick a candidate for president by divining a choice from a scratch on the ballot.

That is why the Supreme Court was right in its determination yesterday, and right to stop the Gore lawyers from stealing the election by taking votes away from undecided voters.
