Actually "Mark Twain" has to do with ropes Mississippi river boat pilots would let down into the Mississippi river to gauge the depths. The second mark (a knot in the rope) was mark twain. Samuel Clemens, from Hannibal, Missouri, a river town, was fascinated by the Mississippi River. As am I - grew up in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, within hearing distance of the river. I love that river. Hard to explain, so I won't even try.
