I usually drink iced tea, but you are right, sometimes a cold beer hits the spot.

I generally prefer white wine, partially because great red wine is more expensive, except for beaujolais, which is often a good choice. A nice Pouilly Fuisse goes with about anything, without costing one's first- born.

I love dessert wines, like Tokai Azsu (5 puttonos), and aperififs, like amontallado sherry. I like cognac and even an occasional Slivovitz (Serbian plum brandy). Scotch neat can be a fine thing, as can a good bourbon. But I rarely drink.
