Tom,

Zinc prices have been trending lower in recent months. There is a risk of a recession just ahead and therefore lower demand for base metals, which would likely cause inventories to go up again. So, the downtrend in prices could accelerate.

The situation with natural gas is not the same. Part of the NG consumption is inelastic as the survival of some US citizens depends on it. Not so with zinc.

Of course, if the US dollar comes down dramatically, all goods will theorically costs more in US dollars, including base metals.

In short, I am not sure on the short and medium term prospects for base metals. On the other end, what is going is more and more positive for precious metals.

So I prefer to increase my exposure to PM.
