Hi Dave - yes, I ve heard Sen Danforth [quite a standup guy in my book] has already said something like that [no one will know for sure, b/c no standard will be accepted.] However, don't underestimate the frivolousness of academic studies <VBG>. Under the sunshine law, with plenty of financial grants [probably not from the Fed,] one can see the detail analysis of these studies. If I am the designer of this study [there will be many,] I will start out with heavy dose of descriptive statistics. County by county, precinct by precinct, category by category. Overvote, undervote, dimple, hanging, swing door, clear punch, rejected. I will also start interviewing informants. Then, variance, probability, linear regression. You name it, people will do it. In this day and age, it is not that difficult. People can then draw their conclusion based on multiple studies. And the nonpartisan studies will get extra brownie points. People can use raw numbers to make up their minds.

My guess is that Mr McConnell is right [in a backhanded way <g>,] if people don't want to see the outcomes, they should start burning the ballots. Then, we will have the missing minutes of taped conversation all over again <VBG>!

best, Bosco
