So all the old laws are still on the books, just unenforceable? Sheesh. Of course that wouldn't surprise me. Actually I think requiring a sunset law on every law passed is a good idea. Each law could not remain in effect more than five years without being repassed by the appropriate legislature. That way silly laws like the ones against consensual sodomy could just quietly expire instead of having to be overturned by someone who would then be labeled 'in favor of sodomy' and demonized. Even common sense laws like the ones against murder should be reviewed periodically. One side benefit of such a sunset clause would be to keep the legislature busy and therefore out of other mischeif. The devil makes work for idle hands.
