Dan--the "non-votes" were heavily located in Democratic counties, due to the backward punch-card system used in them (I hope they toss those frickin' things in the ocean!). In a state with 6 million votes cast, with a few hundred votes separating them, you can hardly blame the candidate who is behind for doing what he can to ensure that a fair and accurate vote count has taken place--and in most states, including FL, that means a manual count.

Well, I'm heartened to get that concession. I'm sure Bush isn't perfect, I didn't even vote for the man. Still, the winner didn't need to bring suits...it's just a fact of life that it falls to the loser to challenge, bring suits, etc. Some Democrats filed suits first, of course. Bush defended himself with a federal suit.

Sure, you might expect both guys to seek something fair. Still, the machine count was relatively fair in my mind. The loser though, despite his words, has done nothing but seek unfairness. I just have to put the blame for this on him. Gore is the only one who was required to seek a re-count or simply concede. I know the sort of count he's been seeking, and I'll always feel I'm quite fair when I say, HE'S the stinker here, head and shoulders above Bush in that regard.
