Even "Virgil the Rice Robot," a four-wheeled remote-controlled contraption, was enlisted to weave around the crowd carrying protest signs. Contraption? Virgil's creators must be pleased with that description by the Chronicle of their electronic marvel. This weekend I asked my Rice-employee friend if she drew up the peace treaty for the radio station. She laughed and said, "No, it took far greater minds than mine." For the record, I didn't reveal that I was familiar with anyone (or his mom) who was involved in the situation.
