nadine, you could be right. dubya is holding on to his prior "wins" and gore is trying to take them away through selective hand counts.

i have to say that i don't think gore's position is assured with a "fair" statewide handcount. i woulda bet, and lost, a lotta money that gore would have won the election by cherry picking three counties.

i believe the facts show he still would have lost, cherry pick and all. not by very much, for sure.

then we get to the under votes, etc. the election is really too close to call.

btw, if FORCED to rate ethics, i think trying to hold onto three fair counts (albeit not the most accurate counts - and i believe accuracy is paramount in this close election) is somewhere above cherry picking counties to the tune of the "let democracy reign... count ALL the votes!" lie.

yeah, RIGHT! ;-)

any more accurate hand count of the undervote would tilt the election to Gore

Ah yes, more Democratic propaganda. Lets have another look at some numbers Bilow posted to you quite a while ago ( #reply-14820449 ):

Gore Bush
Punch Card Counties 1,862,432 1,656,768
Mark Sense Counties 1,046,682 1,253,306
--------- ---------
Total 2,909,114 2,910,074 (Bush by 960)

Now, recall that in Palm Beach county, where Gore won by 117K votes, a recount netted him ~200 votes. IMO it is FAR from certain that Gore would gain >1000 (930 + military + Nassau) votes in a state-wide recount using Palm Beach rules.
