If they blow off overvotes, what about the hypothetical where somebody voted for Bush and also punched "write in" and wrote in Bush? What if somebody had punched Gore, then punched Bush, and circled Bush, with a note that they'd only punched Gore by accident? And, what state-wide standard do they choose, and on what grounds? Wouldn't the Supremes be superlegislating? Blowing off the overvotes would be a mistake. It's only solving one portion of the problem. All are unattractive choices. It's going to be a choice of the lesser of at least 5 evils. A remand blows FL's safe harbor, and after granting the stay on Saturday would make the Supremes look bad.

The standard should be punched holes one or more corner loose ok, nothing else, it's does matter what else happen on the card. Greg>> I tend to agree with your assesement. I hope they just end it, but feel in my gut they will come up with uniform standard to count, and then count. I still say that is changing the law and is wrong, but feel this is the way they will go. If so, and if a stricter standard is used, what odd's are that bush still pulls it out? I say 65% if they use a stricter standard...if they count dimples and etc, reverse that ans give gore 65% chance of winning. As for the market, you mentioned you were fully vested this morning.....considering your view that you feel we will go back to counting, are you still fully vested? Thanks Keith
