Harris didn't quite break the law but deliberately slowed the re-counts by threatening not to count them knowing the deadline was coming soon. It was a case of obstruction of a legal re-count but not illegal in itself. Obviously anyone less partisan would have encouraged the counts be finished quickly and allowed the 500 or so Gore votes to be part of the certification seeing as how they were real votes which had been counted. But no, of course not. She knows where her loyalties lie.

Let's be frank though. Neither side clearly has the "law" behind them. At this point it's all interpretation usually according to partisan viewpoint, whatever's best for your guy. The deadline and certification are one point to make. Just as strong a point is that with the election as close as 150 votes taking another look at state-wide undervotes is the most democractic and reasonable thing to do. Who REALLY won? We'd get closer to answering that question. Now it may never happen. We may never really know who won. But we'll still have a "winner". Because it has to end somewhere. And the US Supreme Court is probably going to be the final authority. If they can make up their minds.
