It was all of those people that voted for Buchanan by mistake and then punched Gore second that got us into this mess.

Too funny!!

Hi Zonkie:
"It was all of those people that voted for Buchanan by mistake and then punched Gore second that got us into this mess. Gore would have won by over 6 or 8 thousand votes if it wasn't for the over votes."

Source please... I missed this one also. Thanks!

Sorry Zonk. But that is incorrect. And short sighted. Now take off your partisan glasses a sec (mine are off) and consider a statistical example.

Let's say you flipped a coin 98 times. And it came up heads 49 times and tails 49 times. Then you flipped it a 99th time, and as it fell it bounced off a pickle jar. And ended up heads.

What you said is like saying:

"If it wasn't for that damn pickle jar we wouldn't have seen 50 heads."

It took the 'pickle jar' flip WITH THE OTHER 49 FLIPS to get to 50.

The fallacy rebutted:
Yes the buchannan votes were not the only anomaly in this election. You could list the 'early call' as another one couldn't you. There are several other on both sides of the fence.

And yes... had the places been different and the republicans were behind they would be talking about that 'early call' Day and night... Acting as if that were the cause of their loss. And they would be as wrong as you are in this circumstance.

cAPSLOCK

Sure blame it on 6 or 8 thousand "idiots" who were too stupid to ask for another ballot.LOL. You have one set of idiots for each scenario. The "weak" idiot who couldn't punch through, the "absent-minded" idiot who forgot to push hard for president (but did for other offices), the "total" idiot who figured people would be able to read his "clear intention" from a ballot with double punches and the "pure" idiot that merely left a "mental" image on his ballot.

That could be easily checked by examining the Bush and other candidates ballots to see if they had a dimple. Not likely. Why would
anyone even imagine there would be a recount before the election?

The fact is they haven't examined the over-votes for fraud. They will. They have regulations in place for a recount, that's how we know they expect a recount.....somewhere.....sometime.
