Ok, let me rephrase that so maybe you will understand what I meant.

If Palm Beach hadn't have had the problem with their ballot Gore would have won by a large enough margin that Bush wouldn't have asked for a recount and we wouldn't be in this mess.

I doubt if the exit poll information cost Bush more than 25 votes.
