"...including all common equipment, nodes and fiber backbone capacity, not to mention one-time mobilizing costs that contractors face."

Frank- I skimmed over the website hoping to find out exactly what the $680K would include. I could not find the details. If you happen to have it handy, could you post the url. From what I skimmed, the $680K pertained only to the outside plant equipment and fiber runs from the home to a neighborhood ethernet switch.

--The Fiber-to-the-Home Trial Program will lead to the construction of a Local Area Network (LAN) interconnected with fiber optic cables which are capable of facilitating data transmission at speeds up to either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps by means of an Ethernet connection to the ISP.

--The fiber optic cables will connect each participants' home to a data switching device that will be located within the Community Center Neighborhood. This device will route data to the ISP over the Fiber Optic Cable Backbone.

Seems the fiber optic cable backbone may be a responsibility of the local power utility company? The $680K will only get the runs to the neighborhood ethernet switch. Do you think I'm understanding this correctly as I haven't the foggiest idea of costs involved in a project of this nature but I would like to know. Thanks. -MikeM(From Florida)
