That's too bad. If the ground work hadn't been done, it would be hard to whip them into shape, and impossible with kids who don't take it seriously

I assume you mean the girls :) I am amazed (maybe it's because we have only boys) at the effort that girls put into even their daily appearances, much less a special event. They would far rather lose the case than NOT have their make-up just right. And what is this latest style with the sparkle all over their faces? And lining lips that don't exist?

Did the opposing teams have experienced kids? Does this go through high school? Maybe you could be the coach next year and see them through the whole thing? I don;t think sponsors and coaches get nearly enough credit. The kids always think they have all this great talent and are geniuses when it's really due to good preparation and teaching.
