Actually, I'm a Bush voter, and I could care less if demolibs complain. It'll be nice to have you go through what we've had to endure the last eight years.knc

Dave, I think the USSC court would love to set a standard and recount.

The problem is they think that would be rewriting FL. law.

At the same time I think 7 of them have a real problem with the different standards being used on the punch card ballots. Violating equal protection od U.S. federal law.

FL. law says the CLEAR intent of the voter. But sets no standard as to what that is.

No one can set that standard now the election is over.

That violates another U.S. law.

So the only way I see they can rule is to go back to the last machine count. Because that is the only equal standard in FL. law at the time of the election.

How divided will they be?

I think thats why you have not seen a ruling yet. They are trying to write a opinion that they can all live with.

I`ll guess its 7-2.

"In fact, if you strip partisanship away, I think everyone agrees there SHOULD be a uniform standard. Florida Law is messed up."

True. The difference between the demos and the repubs is that the demos think it is fair to re-write these laws after the election when their guy will benefit from the NEW laws. I don't care if it is 5-4 (I think it will be 7-2) because it will mean that a little over half of our top court still has a sense of fairness and understands the rule of law (as opposed to the rule of emotion that the dems live by). It will be a good base for us re-vitalized republicans to build on.

When I think of Al Gore's contempt for people like Scalia and Thomas and makes me very thankful that GWB will be our president-elect in a few hours. I never have heard GWB single out and condemn any of the members of United States Supreme Court. Seems kind of tacky, particularly with all the crap GWB has gotten for basically dis-agreeing with a horrendous decision by the FL SC.
