In a dissent, Justice John Paul Stevens said, "Although we may never know with complete certainty the identity of the winner of this year's presidential election, the identity of the loser is perfectly clear. It is the nation's confidence in the judge as an impartial guardian of the law."

Clearly, they are comments from a very angry justice.

A not very subtle statement about the goings on at the USSC the last few days. The last bastion of trust in the US Government has fallen. But Scalia will get his Chief Justice position, and that is the most important thing.

Never under estimate the power of ego. Too many people get off on titles....its too bad.

It was interesting to see the disappointment in some of the media representatives as they tore through the brief trying to find some clause that would invalidate the ruling's intent.

Scumbria,

7 of 9 USSC Justices felt the FLSC recount order was unconstitutional. See page 12 of the opinion:

frwebgate.access.gpo.gov

I have always felt that the recount in only some counties and using the standards that were being used violated due process. It appears I was correct in this.

This was not a political decision by any means. The key thing in all this is EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW.

It's too bad you won't see it that way but I certainly think that there are millions in this country who can. It wasn't that hard. Perhaps it was - for you.
