Joe, it would be pretty silly for the Clawhammer to have 64 bit addressing internally but 32 bits externally. Petz

Joe: Have you seen any indication or rumor that Clawhammer will have integrated Northbridge? Sledgehammer is rumored to have it, but not Clawhammer. I haven't seen any solid indications either way. The ONLY comment on integrated Northbridge I have seen was the one by Charles Mitchel (AMD), as quoted by ebnonline: Mitchell also said that the forthcoming Sledgehammer 64-bit microprocessor will contain an integrated north bridge with an LDT connection. (my source is ptanner's copy of the ebnonline article: siliconinvestor.com Back when this interview was given, NO ONE was talking about Clawhammer. To the best of my knowledge, Clawhammer hadn't been mentioned AT ALL at the time, so I feel that it is at least reasonable to assume that the information might count for the whole Hammer family. Another way to look at it would be to ask if AMD needs a new bus. AMD is well aware of the problems created with every platform transition and they won't do it needlessly. Historically, they have been significantly more conservative wrt platform transitions than Intel, so I really think that they would need some very strong reasons if they were to switch. -fyo
