And we will never know who won the popular vote anyway.
Last estimate was 1.2 million absentee ballots not counted across the nation, since they will not make a difference in the precinct/count which they were cast.

At 2:1 in favor of Bush, we can make a pretty good guess who won it though. ;-)

I should qualify my comment to mean no president in modern history. And, contrary to the last time it happened, we are not in the aftermath of a Civil War. However, given what has happened, we could end up being at the beginning of one. The GOP decision to ramrod Bush into the presidency will have terrible consequences as people rise to resist through his term in office. He'll have no legitimacy in the eyes of half or more of the nation.
