South Carolina had the Confederate flags flying. I used to work down there. the people were all very nice and the young ones (<30) were fairly open-minded. The elderly (50+) were the most racist and close-minded people I have ever met anywhere in the world. I found it very difficult to associate with them. Also noticed a vast difference in education levels between the young and old.

In the unlikely event that you're interested in why Gore lost Tennessee, read this:http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=14953017&s=lose

The whole thing was ridiculous. Does Gore really need a Supreme Court decision to figure out that it's not fair to count dimpled chads as votes in highly democratic areas and as non-votes in Republician areas, or that it is not fair to try and disenfranchise the military voter? (Don't answer - it's rhetorical)

I'm with Kodiak 100%. I was previously non political and voted for Clinton four years ago. After this performance by the democratic party I will do everything in my power to help Republicans and defeat Democrats for at least the next 10 years. (I'll reassess at that point).

>> Is that the place where they fly alot of confederate flags??? <<

I suppose it depends on your definition of "alot."

Let me see if I can ed-gee-cate you a little Patim. Do you recognize the name Dick Riley? Ole' Dick is a good ole' boy from South Carolina. Dick is a former Governor of SC and was a popular governor at that. Dick is now the Secretary of Education, under Willy Klinton.

Dick proudly flew that Confederate flag over the State House during his entire time in office. Dick didn't try to take that flag down. Why? I'm glad you asked. There are a lot of Democrats that fly that flag down here.

David Beasley, our former Republican Governor made the attempt to have the flag come down. A Republican Patim, not a Democrat.

Gov. Beasley paid the price for making that effort. He wasn't elected to his second term in office.

Gov. Hodges, a Democrat, is now our Governor. To his credit, he finally got the Confederate flag to come down, but he didn't have the courage to have the flag placed in our local museum. It still flies on State House grounds as opposed to atop the State House.

I'm glad to see the flag down but I don't oppose those who wish to fly it on their private property. It's part of their freedom of speech. I think that freedom still applies to everyone. Personally, I fly the "Don't Tread On Me" flag of Revolutionary War fame. It was designed by a SC congressman.

Patim, the Democrats have always prided themselves on tolerance and compassion. Is this true or is it just bullshit? That tolerance and compassion is supposed to be applied to everyone, isn't it?

Patim, one of the Democrat's finest spokesman, Dr. Martin Luther King stated, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Your time of challenge and controversy has arrived as it has for all Democrats. Your actions will determine who you truly are.

A softer and kinder right wing conservative,
dabum

Patim,

Are you perchance one of the racist white democrats. Whose goal is to keep blacks in a perpetual state of servitude. Via welfare, affirmative action and negative media stereotypes. Sorry, the "Cosby Show" and "Fresh Prince of Belair" hardly make up for the damage caused by MTV.
