people may have punched the ballot not only for Bush but also punched the write-in category and then wrote in Bush's name.

Wether you vote for the same person twice as per above,
or for two people for the same office, the end result
is still the same .. namely a 'spoiled ballot'.. and
we can never know how many voters realized their mistake
and subsequently correctly cast a ballot .. I don't think
the SC Justice was claiming that a ballot that had a
punch for Bush and also a punch for 'absentee' with
"Bush" written in would be an example of a legal ballot,
because it wouldn't be ..
