Some people have suggested that instead of school vouchers, we should have housing vouchers so poor people can move into better neighborhoods.

We now have "Habitat for humanity" which is a wonderful way to help a family in need, without giving them everything they need, and expecting nothing in return.

When you were younger, the projects were clean..after a fashion, and safe. It didn't take long for all of the drug users and dealers to realize they had a haven. The original people who lived in the projects, wouldn't go back and live in them now.

Colin Powell was raised in Harlem. Do you think he would raise his children there? We rose above our beginnings, and everyone has the same opportunity we had. No excuses.

I have heard that suggested by several well-meaning liberals. They seem to actually think it would be a good idea. But it would bring down the "better neighborhoods" to the level of the "bad neighborhoods". Always happens. Lowest common denominator. Drugs and other "bad" behavior exploded in the "good" schools in conjuction with bussing.

Hi CB...saw your post, and wondered how you would change this situation if you could....I've thought about it a lot,l as I really believe that most of us could say "there but for the grace of God, go I"....and I add, "that could be only temporary grace".... Seriously, it is so discouraging to see new places go up, and have some people just tear down, and destroy. What can we as taxpayers, and concerned citizens, do?
