Dear Zonkie: Dont you think too much is made of the potential to appoint Supreme Court Judges? Remember every appointment must be ratified by the Senate. 50/50 tie with only the VP to break it would indicate to me that for a person to be appointed his qualifications will have to be outstanding and his philosophy mainstream. If you have an individual like that he is going to be an INDEPENDENT thinker and neither conservative nor liberal will be able to feel they have him/her in their pocket. JDN
