This from Fecthor Detwiler yesterday: "In conversations today with equipment and
subassembly suppliers to Applied Materials and other major Semiconductor Equipment
manufacturing companies, we learned that Tool Build Slots are virtually empty from late in
the first quarter of 2001 forward. This stands in stark contrast to the, in some cases, 12
month planning and allocation of slots that existed as late as July of this year.

This means that there have been cancellations and push-outs. This is not new
information. However, the magnitude is surprising in light of the 'slight slowdown'
observations we have been hearing from the large equipment manufacturers."
