Re: "In the last 70-80 years, do you think unions have progressed (or regressed) from defending the interests of the worker against the exploitation of the employer to the extortion of the employer through the exploitation of the worker?"

Answer: No.

I don't believe you know much about unions. You give no indication that you have any insight into the state of unions in America in year 2000. Most of your bashing is jingoistic. You toss around hackneyed phrases and sweeping generalizations. But about 99% of the right-wingers on this board think like you do, so take comfort in your ignorance; you're not alone.

You still think that unions = factory jobs and union leaders = people who disappeared long ago.

Has it ever crossed your mind that perhaps I am a doctor, or an airline pilot, or a university professor, or a high school teacher, or a policeman, or a firefighter, or a symphony musician, or a Pulitzer-winning writer, or an actor?

I doubt it. Your beliefs remain rooted in the '60s.
