Max, the signs of a slowdown are all around if you look hard enough.

Notice fewer Christmas lights and holiday decorations this year? Notice the stores are marching out sales flyers at an alarming rate as we get close to Christmas. Notice car dealers with full lots and salesmen doing nothing but picking their noses?

The slowdown is here, Greenspan knows it. He will act swiftly in January to lower interest rates. The soft landing will feel worse than it really is, but I'm confident it will happen.

What we are witnessing in the Nasdaq is a continuation of the "Valuation Model Correction." If the valuations of a stock are out of proportion to historical norms, it is a target for correction.

Beware.

I'm contemplating buying Jan puts for CORV and Feb puts for STOR. There are so many great shorts out there that anyone can make money in 2001. AMZN is ready to drop with a thud also.

Good to see you back, Max. Gore's speech was great. It will be viewed very favorably in a historical context 30-years from now. The only problem with him was that he looked like Charlie McCarthy on the podium with all that makeup and the smile that looked a little bit forced.

George W. Bush looked like someone you would have slapped in the playground, and he would have cried to the teacher and got you in trouble. They gave his dad grief for the "Wimp Factor". We've now elected the Son of the Wimp.
