Interesting. The only way Breaux would take a cabinet post is if he has tested the waters and found Daschle and the left wing "Broad Squad" will punish him relentlessly for any attempt at compromise with the Republicans after the Senate goes to 50/50. I have been speculating on areas where the two sides can find consensus, but if Daschle and the girls fight a scorched earth war, all predictions are off.

Of course, if Bush can find something Breaux would take, they would be fighting that war from a minority position.

Do you really think Breaux will take the job? It would be such a coup if he did.

I think it was Breaux who said once, "I can't be bought, but I can be rented."

Huey Long would be proud. :-)

Breaux seems like the perfect traitor. I'm not persuaded that he won't do it. Talkin' gris gris, I got my Strom doll lookin' like the pincushion that Dubya wants to turn the Overthrust Belt into. Laisse le mal temps rouler, ma détournée méridionale chienne.

Let me get into your trenches....... <vbg>
