I don't disagree with anything you said. The process isn't perfect. And it does sometimes produce things on the order of the Domino Theory. But given the sheer number of issues and the amount of work it would be for each American to study each one of them enough to have a half-decent opinion, you'd have to be either a perfectionist or paranoid to not let the process work for you, IMO. All this redundant effort seems even more self-defeating for the right wing because how would anyone produce any wealth if everyone's studying issues all day? The economy would come to a halt. I don't get it. The process works well enough, IMO. I've got better ways to spend my life energy. Karen
