One thing to at least consider... NVIDIA is feeling remarkably little competitive pressure. Why introduce a new graphics core before you have to?

Because the graphics industry is an industry where upgrades still yield performance increases... and people like being on the leading edge of performance.

I personally think one of the reasons for slowdowns in the PC industry is that, well, the Athlon 600 you bought last year STILL kicks ass, and well, an Athlon 1200 just isn't worth the effort (not the cost, but the effort) of upgrading.

Companies are going to have to make it easier to change machines every 6 months if they don't want demand to level off and start falling. MS needs to build in a utility in Windows xx where users can easily duplicate all of the software on their old machine to their new machine via usb/firewire/parallel port/network.

Regards,

Steve
