Hullo Pat ol son .... my equipment and the "ice storm" didn't get along too well ..... after taking the past few days off, I stopped by the office and discovered that several of my boxes hadn't fared too well ... the UPS is out ... the email machine is kaput for good ... (hafta build a new one after Christmas) the trading machine is not working correctly ... the data machine is seemingly functioning but without a trade ability the data is entertainment only ... the other box is just humming along like it has good sense ... three utility trucks in the area still ... 1 phone and 2 TXUers .... so I'll not worry about any of that until after the first week in Jan.... or so it seems right now ... and I get home and find a couple of track machines (tracks being a pair of Cat loaders and a backhoe ..ie tank treads as opposed to tires )out in the street .... now these puppies are NOT "steet friendly" as the damage the treads do is sometime pretty severe ... so I guess I'm due for some more difficulty here also .... ok ... I've now vented and said my say ... and I gather from the comments about InterActiveBrokers that there is some confusion that I should be able to comment on .... here it comes ..... my trading buddy who has used the Java dealie is gone out of town for the holidays so he is not available for me to get his comments as I know he has used it ... and his comment to me was that he thought I'd like it when I got used to it ..... he does know how I trade, so that sounds good ... I briefly saw it on his machine, early last week I think it was, and have formed NO idea of whether it will be good (for me) ... I loaded, BUT NEVER used the java screen on my now malfunctioning trading box .... so I have no comment there either ... the old TWS which is now unusuable for me until I redo my box ..... these are my cogent comments there ... a) for my use of fast in and out (under 5 min generally) it was GREAT ... b) I use limit orders in such a manner that I'm not aware of any of the problem areas that have been discussed here .. c) I'm happy with the company ... wish I could be of more help and if there are any questions I can answer, for anyone , fire away .... on that subject <fire away> ... early this morning I went to the lumber yard to get some stuff for the job ... when I left, what do is see but parked next to my truck is the truck of an old time buddy in the construction business ... he has a gun rack in his pickup ... as I approached MY truck, I could see that the gun would be pointing at MY pickup door .... and I had a momentary pause ... why, I don't know .... as I got to the front of my truck I could see the HOLE in the window post on HIS truck ... right at the end of the rifle barrel ... THEN .. I turned and went back inside and asked him "What the hell --- what reason was there a HOLE in his truck? he grinned and said ... you know how kids are .. took the grandson deer hunting and have been telling and telling and telling him about loaded guns ... well ... he thought it wasn't loaded and accidently tripped the trigger on the rack and I now have a hole in my truck ... glad it wasn't bad for anyone and I don't think I'll EVER have to warn him again ..... I guess I'm going to have to get a life for real ... here I fall on the ice last week and lay there laughing at myself and thinking how Scooty would NOT do that .... and I see the hole in the pickup and think abou YOU .... yep, I've GOT to get a LIFE besides the Systems thread .... yep. ........ later ....
