They are, in more ways than one.

As of 12/12/00 specs in 30-year bond futures began building a new net short position of 3,442 from 429 contracts. Commercial traders hold net short positions of 37,563.

Also, specs in 10-year notes hold a net long position of 62,699 down from 76,848 the previous week and a recent peak of 116,099 on 11/21/00. Commercial traders hold net short positions of 79,762.

The current economic slowdown may only be a temporary pause.

I believe LVL mentioned the Euro a few weeks back, similar views, as your expressing.
