Cool story Dave. I wonder how much of that history is actually true.

So was that famous cottonwood tree within the walls or is that unrelated folklore?

The wall served to keep the bulls in, and the bears out. When bears attacked, bulls were killed

I guess the Bears must have been hiding
out in the Subway.
Either that, or they were fishing for Salmon in the East River.
